Mt Hutt, Canterbury’s big friendly mountain with some of the most consistent snowfall in the country

Mt Hutt is striving to become carbon neutral. To achieve this, substantial investment has been put into upgrading equipment, waste management initiatives and native planting. Another goal has been to bring back the kea to Mt Hutt. In the winter of 2020, this was achieved.

The first kea in three years visited the mountain, which thrilled the team and guests. Mt Hutt hopes to encourage more native birds back to the mountain by creating a habitable environment through pest eradication and native planting.
