Soho Basin Chairlift - what is happening?
With the much-anticipated Soho Basin chairlift installation, exciting things are happening at Cardrona Alpine Resort. Here’s an update on where they are.
The project’s heart is the brand-new Soho Basin Express chairlift, set to open for the 2025 winter season. This 6-seater detachable Doppelmayr chairlift promises to transform access to the stunning Soho Basin terrain, making it easier than ever for skiers and snowboarders to explore.
Construction progress so far
The project is right on schedule. The foundations for the lift were laid earlier in 2024, and the next big step is the installation of towers and stations, which is currently taking place. I have included the Instagram post showing the progress. The lift is expected to be fully operational in time for winter 2025.
Previously, access to Soho Basin’s incredible slopes was limited, but this lift will open up a new world of possibilities for skiers and snowboarders. From smooth intermediate trails to thrilling advanced lines, the basin’s diverse terrain has something for everyone.
Upgrades to match the expansion
Cardrona is upgrading its facilities alongside the new lift to enhance the visitor experience. Improvements include expanded parking, better rental services, and enhanced food and beverage options. These changes are designed to handle the expected influx of visitors and ensure a seamless experience on and off the slopes.
